Job seekers have options but must be poised for change
(Celebrity Staffing)
Midlands Business Journal - December 30, 2005
Employers today expect applicants to have strong computer skills,
said Monica Fuehrer, division manager of Celebrity Staffing in Omaha.
"Even if they lack experience with a particular software program, job
applicants are expected to possess the basic skills and be able to learn
variations quickly," she said. There is a new emphasis on the so-called
"soft" skills, Fuehrer said.
"The employers who are our clients talk to us about soft skills, like
oral and written communications, a professional demeanor,
stick-to-itiveness, focus and a strong work ethic," she said. "These
characteristics seem increasingly hard to come by."
Networking groups provide personal, professional benefits
(Aureus Group)
Midlands Business Journal - December 9, 2005
Joining a networking organization can give working women professional
as well as personal benefits.
Getting involved in an organization can help a woman with her
speaking and presentation skills as well as help her develop
friendships, said Chris Carlson, regional manager of the Aureus Group.
Carlson has been a member of the American Society of Women Accountants
for 11 years and said she has gained much from it. "When I started in my
career it helped expand my network," she said. "it also was a vehicle
for me to learn leadership skills." Carlson suggests not only joining an
organization, but getting involved in it through membership on
committees with the group.

(Aureus Group)
Midlands Business Journal - October 7, 2005
Chris Carlson, regional manager of Aureus Group, an Omaha recruiting
firm, said her IT team's workload has increased 70% since last year.
"The staffing industry is said to be a thermometer of the economy,"

looking for Dot Net and Java, both related to the development of
sophisticated Internet capabilities for business, she said. "Now, many
businesses want to offer their clients the equivalent of online
banking."
Making Friends While on the Road

RN's Travel Nursing Today - September 2005
New to traveling? Making friends is easier than you think. These tips
will help you turn strangers into friends in no time.
One way to meet other travelers is through your travel company, says
Christy Hubbard, a staffing supervisor with Aureus Medical. Hubbard says
she often shares the names and contact information of those nurses who
work with the agency and who'll be living in the same housing complex.
Of course, before she gives this information out, she gets everyone's
permission.
Joyce Pulatie, RN, who has been a traveler with Aureus Medical Group
for five years, notes that making friends on the jobs is easy to do.
It's just a matter of being open and friendly. Even during a three-month
assignment, it doesn't take long to develop relationships with the
people you work with. Once you start talking, you will discover whether
you share common ground with someone, she says, and a friendship can
begin.

Some Companies Will Provide Flexible Work Options for Women
(Aureus Group)
Midlands Business Journal - September 9, 2005
Chris Carlson, regional manager for Aureus Group, said some companies
need to offer flexible options to keep technology-proficient employees.
The availability of flexible job options depends on the leadership of
the company, Carlson said.
"I'm seeing more flexibility in certain industries," she said.
"Companies leading the technology curve need to be more flexible in
order to attract and retain this lean percentage of technical
competencies in the work force."

Staffing agencies find employers seeking skilled clerical support
(Celebrity Staffing)
Midlands Business Journal – March 4, 2005
Gone are the days of the secretary or typing pool, when a worker was
hired to fill one basic function for a company.
While applicants for entry-level positions are plentiful, the demand
far exceeds the supply for midlevel individuals, said Patty North,
regional manager of Celebrity Staffing in Omaha. She said companies are
seeking executive assistants and office managers with two to five years
of experience, but those people are tougher to find in this market.
"Consequently, we have to be more creative in our recruiting," she said.

Corporate Spotlight: Aureus Medical Group
(Aureus Medical Group)
Health Executive – January 2005
Whether it's the medical practitioners placed on staff or the support
function personnel who complement them, Aureus Medical Group's staffing
professionals look at the client facility's needs as a team, not as
individuals filling their own separate niches. The team concept is at
the heart of Aureus' mission to provide the most cost-effective and well
targeted human capital management solutions to hospital and clinics
through the United States.
"That's been instrumental to our success," said Scot Thompson, CCO of
the Omaha, Neb. based company. "Our mission is really about patient
care, so it's identical to that of our clients. When our healthcare
employees step into a client facility, we are an extension of that
facility."
