Part two: Welcoming the C&A Interns!

In May, 27 bright individuals joined C&A Industries’ team for this year’s Skills for Success Summer Internship Program. With only a couple weeks left, our interns have been working diligently to gain more knowledge and develop new skillsets they will use in their future careers. This internship program was designed to develop individuals into young professionals through various trainings and immersing them into a corporate environment. Here is part two of “Meet our Summer Interns” of 2019!

Anna Dudziak
Age: 20

School: University of Nebraska- Lincoln

Major: Business HR Management

Division: Aureus University

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: C&A Industries was actually the only internship I applied for. I enjoyed the interview process and thought I’d enjoy working here. They also didn’t care that I didn’t have prior internship experience because they said this internship program provides the entry experience young professionals need.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I was fortunate enough to go through this experience with some friends. I enjoy receiving work and life advice from my manager Amber and my mentor, and being able to incorporate my knowledge/experience with strengths into the program.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: I haven’t had any other internships but it seems like this program incorporates more professional development classes than other internships might.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Even if you don’t think you’re completely qualified, apply anyway. Also, do more research into the type of jobs the company has and what the company represents as a whole.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: I am not really sure what the end goal is yet, but I think I might be changing my minor after this job. C&A has taught me that I belong in a role where I’m interacting with people and constantly moving all day.

Connor Castleman
Age: 20

School: University of Nebraska – Lincoln

Major: Business Management

Division: Aureus Medical , Advanced Practice

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: It is a highly rated internship that features an
array of professional development trainings. They also hire multiple interns after the end of the program, which gives opportunities for networking and building connections.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I enjoy working with the people in my division.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: I think C&A’s professional development courses make them different than most internships available for college students.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Understand your job responsibilities before coming on board. Connect with and ask questions of your manager so they can help provide you with the best internship experience.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: I want to own my own company or run an existing one. I would love to learn more about people management while working through this internship.

Gabby Grasso
Age: 21

School: Hastings College

Major: Business Administration and Human Resource Management

Division: Aureus Medical, Nursing Recruiter

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I heard really awesome things about the company and the internship program C&A offers.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: The people and the work culture. I’ve already had the opportunity to work with some really great people on my team and I’ve already learned so much from them.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: The opportunities that C&A gives their interns is second to none–the professional development classes, the blog posts, the chance to be published on their website, mentorship opportunities, etc.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: If you’re looking for an internship that will allow you to gain as much experience as you want and can, this is the internship for you.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal for this summer is to figure out what I want to do after college and what I enjoy doing in the corporate environment, and gain as much experience as possible. C&A is allowing me to float around throughout the summer, so that I can figure that out.

Shelby Burgers
Age: 20

School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Major: Advertising and Public Relations

Division: Aureus Medical, Allied Onboarding Specialist

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I heard that they had a fantastic internship
program and figured that this would be a great place for me to experience my first internship.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I would definitely have to say the people. My team for example is always willing to help me out, but also listens to my opinions. No matter what, there are always people here who are going to be there to support you and help you reach your fullest potential.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: The Skills for Success program is something that really sets C&A apart from other internships that I applied for. It allows for interns to take part professional development courses and become their best self.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: I would tell them that rejection is okay. Applying for internships can be hard; you may be turned down by a few good companies that you have maybe dreamed about working for. Just know that everything happens for a reason and that being rejected will only make you want to work that much harder.

What in your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to eventually work for a company or agency doing social media or advertising of some sort. While at C&A I am able to build connections with individuals that do that for a career and can learn a few things form them. By working here, I am able to learn what it is like to work in a corporate environment and able to do things that I am interested in. This company truly does want the best for their employees and want you to love what you are doing.

Timmy Corrado
Age: 23

School: University of Nebraska- Kearny

Major: Computer Science

Division: IT

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I had heard from a few people that they have a great internship program, so I became interested.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I have really enjoyed meeting all of the interesting and friendly people who work here.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: The amazing people, great work environment, and professional development you are able to gain from internship program.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: C&A has a great internship program and you learn many things, I would definitely recommend. Generally speaking, you should think about the potential outcome of the program. If you think it could provide insightful knowledge that you could utilize after the program, take it. But if not, I would continue the search for that perfect program.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: I hope to be in mobile application development. Since I am working as an IT intern, I learn a lot about the ins and outs of technology, so this program is creating the groundwork for getting a few steps closer to emerging myself within a technological role in the future.

Jozlyn Zandt
Age: 19

School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Major: Undeclared

Division: Aureus University

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: It seemed like a great opportunity that would help me figure out what working in the corporate world is like.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: My favorite thing about C&A is the people who work here and the work culture. People are always pushing me to do better, and are always willing to help me out when I am having an issue.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: This internship program really wants to make sure that you’re getting the skillsets and knowledge for the future.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: All internships are an experience and an opportunity, so don’t take them for granted.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to get a better idea of what I want to do with my life, so that I can finally declare a major when I get back to college.

Jake Fusselman
Age: 21

School: Northwest Missouri State University

Major: Public Accounting and Corporate Finance

Division: Accounting

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I was looking to gain job experience in the
business world and C&A provided the best opportunity for me to do that.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I love how everyone has been so welcoming and made me feel a part of the team.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: The trainings offered with program are exceptional. Specifically, I really enjoyed Strengths Finder training and their approach towards incorporating my strengths into my everyday life, not just my work life.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Be honest with the companies on what you are looking for during your application and interviews. This will ensure that you find the right fit into a division and receive the best job experience.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: I want to find out what I enjoy doing every day in the Accounting world. C&A can help me by giving a variety of projects to work on throughout my internship that immerse me further into accounting.

Sarah Kreber
Age: 21

School: Wayne State College

Major: Speech Communication with Organizational Leadership and Public Relations

Division: Aureus Medical & AurHomes

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I really wanted to see what it was like to work for a big corporation rather than a small business. I also wanted to gain experience in my field in order to better understand what I want to pursue after graduation.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I love the people and the company. Even though this is a huge company, everyone acts like one big family and is committed to helping the people who work for it and the community it serves. The people who work at C&A are always checking in and are great to work with.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: C&A is different than other internships because they are committed to making sure their interns are getting the most out of an internship and meeting the intern’s goals. They are willing to listen to what you want and help you accomplish it. They are constantly providing opportunities for interns to learn and grow while still working for their company.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Never be afraid to communicate your thoughts and ideas. If you don’t ask, then you’ll never know and always be left wondering.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My goal at the end of the summer is to gain an understanding of how a large corporation operates and to find out how I can use my degree get a job I love with people interaction. C&A will help me get there by offering me the chance to shadow other departments.

Allie Kohl
Age: 21

School: Nebraska Wesleyan University

Major: Psychology & Communication

Division: The Kim Foundation

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: The Kim Foundation offered me the opportunity to learn more about my passions, expand my skills, and help further my knowledge.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: My favorite thing about working at C&A is personal relationships that I have been able to develop and the freedom to present new ideas and projects.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: At C&A you are treated as much more than just an intern. You have the chance to present ideas and fully run them through. You are treated as a teammate.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: I would recommend considering C&A. You learn a lot in your department and through training. They will help build your resume and get you ready for the work field.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to further the outreach and education The Kim Foundation provides about mental health and suicide.

Logan Skrabal
Age: 21

School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Majors: Advertising & Public Relations; Sports Media & Communication

Division: Social Media

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I chose C&A Industries because it offers an incredibly valuable opportunity to obtain real world experience, while also fostering learning and development in the midst of incredible coworkers and through the Skills for Success program. Skills for Success provides opportunities for professional development, mentoring, and networking that will undoubtedly pay off down the road.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I love that everyone at C&A is welcoming, letting you try new things in areas that you have interest in, while also challenging you to achieve in areas that may be new. In the end, these experiences have proved to be incredibly valuable in my growth as a professional.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: C&A Industries offers an internship experience that focuses not only on work, but also on development. The Skills for Success aspect of the internship program allows interns to work together in an environment conducive to growth and opportunity. This puts it over the top in comparison to other experiences in the area.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: I would say that an internship experience is incredibly valuable. Although it can equate to hard work and long hours, it allows for immense growth in terms of skills, experience, and networking. Internship experiences allow individuals to work in a traditional job setting, while also providing the flexibility to accommodate school and other life commitments. Internship experiences ultimately set you up ahead of others when it comes to finding a full time job down the road.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: Ultimately, I want to build my portfolio and set of experiences, while also adding valuable contacts to my network. At C&A Industries, I truly believe that this is not only possible, but inevitable. I will cherish the memories and experiences that I have made here, and will use them going forward with whatever the future may hold!
