Joey Herold
program Age: 21

School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Major: Business Administration

Division: Aureus Medical: Nursing Onboarding Specialist

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: I chose C&A because I wanted to experience what it’s like to work in a corporate setting in a 8-5 job.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I love how helpful and supportive everyone on my team is. Also, the food days are a plus.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: At C&A, they offer professional development classes and group meetings to help develop our skills. We have also had the opportunity to take the Gallup Strengths Finder assessment that helped us learn more about ourselves and how to utilize our strengths in not only a professional setting, but also our everyday lives.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: I would definitely recommend applying here, as well as many other places they are interested in. I would tell them it’s important to experience an internship in a setting you are not used to. I would also tell them internships help pave the way to their future career by exposing them to the things they are interested in.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: I would like to make as many connections here at C&A as possible. This internship experience is an amazing addition to my resume. I am hoping with the experience and skillsets I have learned during the program, I will be able to get a full time job shortly after graduation.

Katie Steuter
program Age: 21

School: University of Nebraska- Lincoln

Major: Marketing

Division: Aureus Medical, Allied Market Analyst

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: During my last interview with C&A, I was asked what I wanted to do and what I was interested in. After I answered, executive director of training & development Liz Hall aligned what I wanted to do with a project that she thought could benefit Aureus Medical. I knew that a company that takes the time to find out an individual’s needs and tries to meet them would make a great place for me to grow.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I love having the freedom of making a project my own. I am trusted as an intern to use my abilities to solve problems, which was scary at first, but has allowed me to surprise myself every day.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: C&A is my first internship, but a big differentiator I’ve noticed is their Skills for Success Program. As an intern, you’re not only working on projects and day-to-day tasks in your role, but you also have an opportunity to take classes that help build your professional skillset, network, and learn from experts.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Don’t be afraid of rejection. It can be scary and hard, but let it fuel you to be better. Ask for feedback after interviews and take the process seriously. In the end, everything will work out for the best.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to find a job in marketing after I graduate next May. I’m not exactly sure what path in marketing I want to take, but my internship at C&A has made me realize what I like and don’t like and helped me build my portfolio along the way.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: This internship is different from others because of the Skills for Success program. The different trainings and group sessions that we have definitely set this internship apart from others.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Don’t be afraid to look at places outside of your comfort zone.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to eventually work at an Ad Agency, doing Graphic Design work. C&A is helping me get there by helping me expand my portfolio with more diverse work than just what I did while I was in college.

Jonathan Curti

Major: Health and Fitness Studies

Division: Aureus Medical, Career Development and Training

Why did you choose to work at C&A?: Great people. Good pay. An opportunity to build my resume and connections and a chance to make an impact in a corporate wellness setting.

What is your favorite thing about working at C&A?: I really enjoy coming into work and being greeted with smiles. It’s encouraging to know that the people you work with care about your success as much as their own. Also, the natural lighting is great!

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: They care about developing professional skills. Most internship programs take advantage of the “free labor” and make interns do mundane tasks. Here, they place you in positions where you as the intern get the opportunity to take the lead on projects, meet with managers, and see your impact.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: Keep your options open. When I heard about this internship at C&A, I had no interest in working here. They wanted to bring me in for an interview and I ended up loving it here. You don’t know what you don’t know, give it a shot.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to be placed in a job in which I love what I do and who I do it with. A company’s culture is everything and C&A has showed me that.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: I would say you should apply early and just be yourself in the interview. Also, even if the internship isn’t necessarily what you want to do for a full-time job, the experience will pay off regardless. All experience is good experience.

What is your end goal and how can C&A help you get there?: My end goal is to find a full-time job that I love and that will challenge me after I complete my senior year of college. C&A has helped me get there because I have made connections that will pay off even if I don’t end up working for C&A. If I do end up at C&A, I will have a better understanding of the culture and just how many opportunities they have to offer.

What makes C&A different from other internship programs?: C&A does a good job of giving its employees plenty of opportunities to work on their own personal development. They really want to help their interns learn the skills needed for their first job out of college.

What is one thing that you would say to people who are looking for an internship?: I would say to apply at as many places as possible. This way hopefully you get your pick from whichever company sounds most interesting instead of having to rely on one company picking you.
