C&A Industries, Inc., a national leader in staffing and recruiting, has been recognized for its commitment to employee learning. The Omaha-based company has been named by "Training" magazine to the Training Top 125, which ranks companies’ excellence in employer sponsored training and development programs worldwide. Rankings of the 125 award winners will be announced on February 25 during the Training 2019 Conference & Expo in Orlando, FL.

C&A is the parent company to workforce solution firms Aureus Group®, Aureus Medical Group®, AurStaff®, Celebrity Staff, and FocusOne Solutions®, as well as AurTravel® and AurHomes®. The company employs nearly 700 in its corporate and regional offices.

"Training" magazine is the leading business publication for learning & development and human resources professionals.

The Training Top 125 ranking is based on a combination of benchmarking statistics such as total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; hours of training per employee annually; detailed formal programs; learning goals; Kirkpatrick Level 3 and 4 evaluation; and business outcomes measurement. Rankings are determined by assessing statistics combined with such factors as the scope of programming and the correlation between training & development efforts and business goals, objectives, and results.

C&A offers a broad range of initial and continued education for employees at all levels within its organization, from entry level roles through management and executive level leadership. In addition to customized education developed by its training staff, including accredited new hire sales training; multi-tiered professional development curricula; and support staff, management preparation, and leadership training, the firm incorporates leading concepts, training modules, and industry experts into its offerings.

“As C&A’s education offerings have evolved over time, we’ve established a culture of learning within our workplace,” said Liz Hall, Executive Director of Training and Development with C&A. “It’s reflected not only in the amount of training and professional development we offer but also in the enthusiasm and participation we see from our employees. Employee learning is an important part of who we are as a company.”

Scot Thompson, President & CEO noted the vital role that training and continued learning plays in the company’s growth and performance strategies. “The investment we make in developing our employees is significant and is fully supported at the highest levels of our organization.” He added, “We believe the very best companies are comprised of the very best people. The more effective our training, not only initially but throughout an employee’s career with us, the more competitive we are as an organization.”

C&A is currently the 27th largest staffing firm in the United States and the 84th largest globally. In 2018, C&A was named among the Best Places to Work in Omaha in the large company category for the eighth time in ten years. C&A was recognized as one of the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in North America in 2017.

“We are so fortunate to work for a company that invests so much in the development of our people and is committed to helping each and every employee perform at their very best,” added Hall. “To be recognized for our efforts by 'Training' magazine validates that we have created something unique and special. It’s apparent to us that we’re not only contributing to greater levels of employee and organizational success but we’re also making a difference in the lives of those who are part of the C&A team.”

    Lincoln Business Journal – July 1, 2018
    (Aureus Group®)
The large number of IT corporations and the ever-evolving IT industry is driving the competitive market for IT professionals in Lincoln and surrounding areas. The outlook for the IT job market has never been more positive, according to Kara Strong, senior IT sales executive at Aureus Group, an affiliate of C&A Industries. “There’s a desperate need for IT talent in broth hardware and software, “ she said. “Every industry has a demand for real IT talent; however, we’ve found that some of our larger clients have come from the insurance, banking, utilities, construction and service industries.” Strong said most of the firm’s clients are seeking applicants with two to 10 or more years of experience. Ideally, employers want an associate degree - a bachelor’s is even better – but most of the firm’s clients value actual experience over an educational background. Certifications can be helpful but aren’t usually required. “The need for IT talent is so high, our clients are willing to bend on some of their previous requirements and consider experience alone,” Strong said. Clients are looking for candidates with experience working in an AGILE environment. C# and Java have been the most common development languages. There has been an increase in the need for Cisco, Windows Server, VMware, and old Legacy technology. “Employees with those skill sets are retiring or nearing retirement, and we don’t see the mainframe technology going,” Strong said.

    Midlands Business Journal – June 22, 2018
    (Celebrity Staff)
Senior Account Manager Sarah Kaczmarek, with C&A Industries’ affiliate Celebrity Staff, said HR professionals are challenged with candidates receiving multiple offers in a short time, low unemployment and keeping up with salary trends. “When consulting with new and existing clients, I explain that it is basic economics; supply and demand,” she said. “The biggest opportunity I see is educating not only our HR folks, but hiring managers on what we are seeing in the market.” Sometimes, Kaczmarek said HR professionals are at the mercy of the hiring manager to move on the candidate and/or offer a competitive rate; for instance, the $10/hour candidate two to three years ago is today’s $14/hour candidate. “We are in a tight unemployment market, which is forcing us to think differently about the talent pool,” she said. “The bigger question is the availability of training and time that companies are willing to invest in underdeveloped talent.” Talent who “checks all the boxes” may already be working, she said, but it’s an exciting time for companies to bring in raw talent and develop them to be their next leaders.

In virtually every sector, Lincoln companies are scrambling to find qualified employees to keep their businesses running at peak efficiency and stimulate growth. Individual companies have also begun to think creatively about how to attract the workers they need. Jason Randazzo, recruiting manager with Celebrity Staff, an affiliate of C&A Industries, said many companies are willing to put up or shut up when it comes to landing the right talent. “I see a lot of companies talking about the culture, PTO and everything,” he said. “I have even started to see recruiters on college campuses recruiting as early as junior year. There are always going to be sign-on bonuses, but I have seen everything from unlimited PTO to more work from home opportunities. Randazzo said companies are also finding that using staffing services pays dividends in a tight labor market. “The No. 1 thing is speed,” he said. “Clients may not realize the time it takes to get the ad posted, wait for resumes, sort through the resumes, set up interviews, and interview all candidates, only to have someone decline an offer. We have a strong network of candidates and industry experts within our niche to fill jobs quickly with the right person.”

    (Aureus Group)
Businesses of all sizes face obstacles when it comes to finding, hiring, and raining talent. “Most business owners wear many hats and need to focus on their core business,” said Chris Carlson, managing director at Aureus Group® - an affiliate of C&A Industries, Inc. “Partnering with a staffing service lowers opportunity costs by allowing the owner and key personnel to stay focused on their business while the recruiting/staffing experts attract, recruit, interview, screen, reference and coordinate interviews with talent that not only has the competencies but fits culturally.” The low unemployment rate requires recruiting strategies that go beyond traditional postings, Carlson said. “The cost of the unfilled position is very expensive and the staffing fee is less expensive than a bad hire,” she said. Contract with option to hire, or the “working interview,” Carlson said, is popular with small, medium and large organizations. “This gives the employee and employer the hands-on opportunity to align career aspirations with the business goals to ensure a long-term fit prior to making a full-time hire,” she said.

When it comes to business planning, navigating through employment and staffing needs is at the forefront. Patty North, general manager of Celerity Staff, an affiliate of C&A Industries, said when hiring, be ready to respond to applicants immediately. “There are many options for today’s job seeker, and the organizations that respond quickly are more likely to have good candidates interested in the interview,” she said. North mentioned it’s also important to know how to tell you company’s story. “Employees of today want to know if they are working for an organization that has a mission and purpose,” North said. “Too many hiring managers forget to spend time sharing at the end of the interview why someone should work there.” North said people want to work for great companies and great managers – and the interview is the place to engage the applicant. According to North, a staffing service helps identify candidates interested din your company and the type of work offered. “This can save time by conducting interviews only with the candidates qualified and interested,” she said.
